Hey everyone, we apologize for not posting anything in the last few months! We’re still here, and working on new tracks for our future album. In the meantime, we played a show last Friday morning on Weber State University’s new program, Studio 76. We’ve uploaded a copy of our performance to youtube for your enjoyment!
However, please note that for some reason, the drums were mysteriously left out of the mix! Its really odd, you can pretty much only hear the guitar and vocals, even though you can see Chris drumming away like a mad man. We apologize, but there isn’t much we can do with it. Hopefully you can enjoy it regardless.
Hope to have some more updates for you soon. We’ll keep you posted. Eventually…

We’ve posted some pics from our Taylorsville Dayzz show. It turned out to be a very fun show. We got the Centerville Fireworks show tomorrow, and we hope that goes just as well.
We just got word that our album Something Deeper has been upgraded to “iTunes Plus,” a higher quality format without DRM, on the Apple iTunes Store. Cool beans.
Also, the album is now for sale at the Amazon.com mp3 store.

Hey everyone, Prospect Mali will be playing an awesome show on July 3rd for their hometown of Centerville, Utah. Every year, Centerville has a fireworks show the night before the 4th at Founder’s Park. This year, we’ve been invited to play from 6:30 to 7:45, just before the fireworks start.

About the same time we wrapped up our first album, “Something Deeper,” we upgraded our entire home studio to a brand new system. Its not that our previous setup was too bad, but it really wasn’t a professional rig at all. Actually, here’s a picture to show you what we used to record the first album:
Notice the sweet blanket surrounding the table, used as a noise filter for the ridiculously loud self-built computer. Those computer monitors cost me $5 each at the DI, and pretty much everything else is a hand-me-down from the Nixon Administration.
Anyways, since those good old days of recording on equipment barely able to hang on to dear life, we’ve plunged head first into a Pro Tools setup that is wicked awesome but also has taken a while to get used to. I’m finally getting the hang of it though, and we’ve started work on a second EP. I know for sure that “Strain,” a song originally slated for our debut album that got cut at the last minute, will be on the new album. We’re still writing and experimenting, but so far its been a lot of fun and it hasn’t made us go deaf.
By the way, congratulations to Rob and his wife, they just had their first kid last week, a healthy baby boy! We’re excited because we’ve been needing lead guitarist.
In the wake of our new site, I thought it might be interesting to see how prospectmali.com has evolved over the years. Basically there have now been 4 iterations of the site. Let’s start from way back when in 2006.
Here she is, version 1 in all her glory. Do you like the ginormous font that says Prospect Mali News? That way you can tell its the news page.
Also, you can see in the lower right corner an ad for bass player wanted. That never really worked out for us. We did have a few applicants, including a guy living in Ohio and one living in Wisconsin. It was hard to get together for practice.
On to version 2.
You can see the original album art we had for our debut album here. The rest of the site was based off of that, which is why the website needed to go under a mini-makeover in version 3. My favorite part of the website was the store link, since we didn’t have a store nor anything to sell at the time. Smooth.
And finally version 3. Ah yes, the website of the CD launch. Its basically the same as version 2 but with the album artwork integrated. The idea was okay (at least I thought), but the execution was, well, a tad off.
Things didn’t work right or look quite right at times. Mostly, because I didn’t (and still) don’t know how the heck to code a website. I try to be such a nerd, but all the true nerds of the world would have been so disappointed in me.
And now, we’ve arrived at version 4. I really hope this thing works as it should, because it seems we finally got it right. Any suggestions for version 5?
